Dermal Fillers
As we age, we lose volume and structure in our skin due to the loss of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. Made from a naturally occurring complex sugar, hyaluronic acid is able to hold up to 1000 times its weight in water. Dermal fillers are carefully injected beneath the skins surface to diminish the depth of facial folds and to gently restore structure and volume to the skin and lips.

What are Dermal Filler Injections?
Dermal fillers work by imitating a naturally occurring substance within your body – a sugar molecule that exists naturally in almost all living organisms. Its normal function is to bind water so it acts as a lubricant and shock absorber in movable parts of the body, such as joints. It is also important for the transport of nutrients and in regulating water balance in skin.
By boosting your skin with this naturally occurring substance, dermal fillers revitalise and add volume to the area instantly. This diminishes the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and giving a natural softer look. The gel we use is very tissue-friendly and closely resembles that which exists in the body.
Treats facial lines and wrinkles - Dermal fillers can be used to smooth away facial lines and wrinkles, create fuller lips and shape facial contours.
Long lasting but not permanent - One of the great advantages of dermal filler treatment is that the effects are long lasting but not permanent.
Sculpt & define - We can sculpt and define areas of the face using filler, particularly in the mid face and jawline
Gives volume - Dermal fillers can be used in areas that lose volume as we naturally age, in areas such as the cheeks, under eye area and nasolabial folds
Adds hydration - Lip filler can replace hydration to lips that tend to dry out as we age

What happens during the treatment?
After a consultation, including a full medical history, you will receive advice on the best outcome for your concerns. Photos will be taken, ice packs may be used to numb the area as well as a topical numbing cream. Treatment takes less than 30 mins.
Are dermal filler treatments safe?
Our most used dermal filler is the most scientifically documented HA based dermal filler in the world with comprehensive studies that support its safety and efficacy. It has been used in over 10 million treatments worldwide during the last 12 years. Because the dermal filler resembles the substances that occur naturally in the body, the risk of allergic reaction is minimal.
Does dermal filler hurt?
A numbing agent is applied to the area being treated prior to the injections. Although there is a little discomfort, getting fillers injected is much less painful than you may think! The injections themselves feel like a slight pinch, and you may experience slight pressure or a ‘stinging’ sensation as the product is being injected.
What areas can be treated
-
Smooth out lines around nose and mouth (a.k.a. marionette lines,
smile lines, and parentheses) -
Enhance & restore volume to sunken cheeks or temples
-
Diminish vertical lip lines
-
Plump & enhance the lips
-
Smooth out a chin crease
-
Improve symmetry among facial features
Difference between anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers:
Anti-wrinkle injections relax muscles to soften lines, while dermal fillers restore lost volume and hide shadows beneath the skin.
Cheek, tear trough and marionette dermal filler
Introducing dermal filler to these areas of the face lifts the cheeks, reduces the appearance of the tear trough to help provide that refreshed feeling and look.
Nasolabial folds
Dermal fillers are used to reduce the appearance of nasolabial folds by softening the shadows around them. Filler in this area usually lasts around one year.
Lip dermal filler
Lip dermal filler can restore volume to the lips but can also improve lip proportions.
When will I notice results?
Fortunately, dermal fillers work very quickly, you will see results instantly and you won't have to wait. That said, these injectable treatments take some time to integrate into your tissues, and it's normal for your dermal filler to take up to two weeks to fully settle into your face.

How often do I need a treatment?
A single treatment can be seen instantly. Dermal fillers generally last between 6 months and 2 years depending on the type of dermal filler used, with the product being metabolised by your body. Repeat treatment is dependant on the individual and will be advised by me.
Downtime
There is no downtime with any injectable treatment, leaving you able to return to normal activities immediately – perfect for your lunch time ‘pick me up’.
Pre & Post Care
There are no pre-treatment requirements. However, post treatment recommendations include the following:
Avoid strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours post treatment
Do no massage or rub treated area for 24 hours post treatment
